Oakland Marriott City Center
  1001 Broadway; downtown.  21 stories, 491 rooms.  Heated pool; hot tub; fitness room.  Restaurant.  No pets.  Parking fee.  Casting a dramatic profile on the downtown skyline, this centrally located, angular building is Oakland’s only high-rise, full-service luxury hotel.  It connects to the Oakland Convention Center and is one of the few hotels in the Bay Area with a kosher kitchen.

The Washington Inn
  495 10th St./Washington St.; downtown.  4 stories; 47 rooms.  Continental breakfast M-F, continental Sat-Sun; restaurant.  No pets.  Parking fee.  Located across the street from the Oakland Convention Center, this landmark building was Oakland's first hotel.  It features turn-of-the-century decor, and photos of old Oakland hang in the welcoming, high-ceilinged lobby.

Waterfront Hotel  10 Washington St., at Jack London Square.  5 stories; 145 rooms.  Heated pool, sauna; fitness room.  Wine & cheese M-F afternoon; restaurant; room service.  Parking fee.  This contemporary hotel offers an atmosphere of casual luxury and features a glass-enclosed swimming pool deck overlooking the estuary.  More than half of the rooms have water views.  The San Francisco ferry docks adjacent, and the hotel operates a free BART shuttle.
