African American Museum and Library
  659 14th St./Martin Luther King Jr. Way; downtown.  Free.  Positioned within a beautifully restored 1902 Carnegie Library building, this combination museum-library focuses on the culture and history of Northern California and has materials relating to the history of African Americans throughout the United States.  A small museum operates in a magnificent room upstairs and schedules periodic shows.
