  5655 College Ave./Shafter Ave.  Delicious Italian-style dishes made with the freshest seasonal ingredients rarely disappoint and have included a blood orange-avocado-butter lettuce salad and a flavorful pan-roasted halibut entree.  A seasonal soup, fresh house-made pastas, and an assortment of side dishes are always available at dinner.  Do leave room for dessert, as they are exceptional:  Meyer lemon éclairs with lemon-caramel sauce and pistachios, persimmon pudding, simple tangelo sherbet. 

Should the classy upstairs restaurant be completely booked, as it often is, opt for a less expansive, and less expensive, meal in the cozy downstairs cafe.  Pizza, pasta, and panini are always good.
