OAKLAND ●Restaurants

Oakland Grill
301 Franklin St./3rd St.; Jack London area.  Situated in the produce district, this down-to-earth spot is a cheery haven for a satisfying meal and a good cup of coffee.  The excellent breakfasts are served all day.  Three-egg omelettes and two-egg “scramlets” are available with an extensive choice of fillings and are prepared with egg whites upon request.  They come with a side of baking powder biscuits and home fries.  Hot cakes, French toast, crpes, and eggs Benedict are also options.  Lunch brings on a hamburger and veggie burger, a French dip sandwich, and a variety of salads.  Being selected by Travel & Leisure as one of the country’s top 100 restaurants in 1995 obviously refers to the food, not the ambiance.
