Preservation Park 13th St./Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Free. This group of 16 exquisite Victorian houses was originally scheduled to be demolished by Highway 980, but they were saved when a public outcry caused the freeway to be moved over a block. They represent five distinct domestic architectural styles from 1870 to 1896. Those on the north side of the street are in their original positions, while the rest were moved in from other parts of the city. Houses are rented to non-profits and small businesses for office space. The two-block area is beautifully landscaped with posh lawns, palms, and pines, plus one gorgeous 19th-century fountain. A cafe in one house serves weekday lunch.
